Board Comments: Dave had a map of Fairmount of the uncontrolled intersections that the village has. A request was made that a stop sign would be placed at Oak and Myrtle Street. Gary patrolled the area and said most traffic on the street was residents or visiting residents, he counted five cars in an hour. There is a state law that states you cannot use a stop sign to control traffic. “A stop sign shall not be used to control the speed of traffic”.
Susie said traffic is different in the summer time and during the day and kids are out playing. The board wants to table it until the summer time, when traffic may increase. Gary suggested that perhaps a yield sign would be an option. The board looked at other uncontrolled intersections of the village, the board wasn’t interested in putting stop signs at these other five locations.
- Suzanne was able to get information regarding the Tavern. The Tavern taxes for 2016, 2017 was sold in auction to a company contracted by the county. The role of the company is to get the deed and auction off the property to get it back to a profitable tax assessing property. This may or may not take in effect until June 2020. The company will not clean up the area or demolish the building.
- Suzanne asked the board to consider looking into the villages CD rates. The board asked that she would gather more information from other financial institutions to see what rates are available.
- Ed said there is a need for a ceiling in the town garage, currently there is only a tarp. Dave said for Ed to get an estimate for costs of material.
