The Fairmount Village Board met in open session this 18th day of January 2017, in the council chambers of the village hall. President David Ferber called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M. meeting ended at 8:23 P.M. Guests present were: Gary Wright, Jessica, Graham, and Ruthie High.

Approved request for special use of the Fire Station: Jessica High was present to see if the board would allow her to use the Fire Station meeting room for an exercise class two times a week for an hour. After much discussion, on wear and tear of the carpet and High having insurance the board agreed to allow the exercise class on a trial basis. Because High plans to charge her participants the board suggested she pays $10 a month for the use of the building. Police Report on File: Gary wanted on record that there was no needed backups from Sidell Police as was stated in the paper at the Village of Sidell Meeting from Chief Huff. Greg asked Gary about truck in front of Kevin Swiders house. Suzanne reported that the village received $100 from county on a ticket Gary had issued to Gary Davis.
Fire Dept: Dave passed out 2016 Annual Fire Dept Report, (On File). He also questioned if there should be a membership cap of fire fighters. The Reasoning is because of the cost of the equipment each fire fighter will need. The board would have to decide on that at a later date.
Water: There were two water leaks. One on Vance St that was repaired twice in a month and another on N. Park St. that was under the road. Ferber reported that we will make final repairs to the road and clean up all dig areas in the spring when everything thaws out.
Emily and Susie are going to start working on water department ordinance and policies
Board Comments on future items:
Dave brought up a possible training opportunity for all departments of the village called Target Solutions. It is an online training and may help with insurance premium but Ferber wasn’t sure on that. The board told Ferber to get more information on the program.
The Garbage ordinance was brought up because only one company is being charged a fee, after looking at the present ordinance it was discovered there is no ordinance. This is something that will be worked on in the near future.
Dave said he will be working on the budget soon and that one thing to consider is the park mulch that is needed replaced. Susie has the information and will bring at the next meeting.
Ed suggested that we look into mowing expense, that we need to hire Colby an assistant to mow so Colby can work on other projects. Utilizing on call people or hire someone to just help mow. Ed said the drains are being clogged and Main Street is looking bad.
Dave said we need to watch our spending as the water tower project will be depleting our funds. These things will need to be discussed further
